What breaks the bridge
In mixed product/design/engineering teams, the most expensive failures usually happen before coding starts. The brief is often directionally right but operationally vague.
What fixes it
A short alignment pass can prevent weeks of rework. I use this sequence:
- Define user objective and business objective separately.
- Document constraints (time, platform, security, ownership).
- Convert UX intent into testable acceptance criteria.
- Log trade-offs as soon as they are made.
Why this matters
Working across UX, WordPress engineering, and product management, I kept coming back to the same problem: intent evaporates between conversations. The bridge is not a meeting. It's a shared artifact.
